Elementary Guidance Counselor

Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District is seeking a highly qualified Elementary Guidance Counselor to join our team.

The Elementary Guidance Counselor will provide academic and personal support to students, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve their educational and career goals.

• Collaborate with the School Principal to establish a master schedule of classes and student assignments.
• Process approved changes and adjustments in student schedules.
• Assist students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through standardized test scores and other data.
• Work with students to develop education and occupation plans.
• Provide counseling to promote personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
• Interpret the school's objectives to students, parents, and the community.
• Work with teachers and staff to improve educational prospects for individual students.
• Supervise the preparation and processing of college scholarships and employment applications.
• Secure information on institutions of higher learning and disseminate it to students.
• Maintain accurate health records, attendance records, and cumulative progress records.
• Complete the approved District Staff Development Program.

• M.D.E. Teaching license
• Master's Degree
• Valid Certificate in guidance and counseling
• Contract length - 187 days
• Two years teaching experience - preferred
