Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate - 3x12s, 2 out of every 6 weekends

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required; previous travel experience preferred

License: Valid RN license required

Certifications:

  • Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)

Must-Have:

  • Ability to mix own medications
  • Proficiency with respiratory meds/equipment and intubation
  • Strong critical thinking skills, effective communication, adaptability, teamwork, and professionalism

Job Description:

The ER department offers a fast-paced environment treating a diverse patient population with emergencies, including medical and trauma cases. RNs will be responsible for a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 for stable patients and 1:1 or 1:2 for critically ill patients. Common diagnoses include acute illness, severe injuries, chest pain, respiratory distress, stroke, seizure, neurological trauma, allergic reactions, infectious diseases, intoxication, and psychiatric emergencies. RNs need the ability to read and interpret their own ECG strips. Familiarity with common drips such as Insulin, Heparin, Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Propofol. Coordination with in-house physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants available 24/7. Support services include tech assistance available from 11 AM to 11 PM and respiratory therapists on call 24/7, with in-house presence from 6 AM to 6 PM. Flexibility to float to medical-surgical units as needed and provide additional support in behavioral health cases. Orientation includes 2 days of unit/department-specific training. Maintain professionalism and exemplify strong clinical competence and time management skills.
