We are seeking a skilled Pavement Marking Technician to join our team at PLP Company. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for installing pavement markings on roadways, parking lots, and airports using various equipment and techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Work with our striping crew to layout and install pavement markings on roadways, parking lots, and airports, ensuring compliance with DOT and quality guidelines.
- Perform and complete all work in a timely and efficient manner, maximizing production while maintaining high-quality results.
- Calculate field measurements using engineered plans and/or Google Earth images to ensure accurate installation.
- Track and record quantities of pavement markings on each project, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Perform traffic control duties, including flagging, short-term lane closures, and slow-moving mobile lane closures, to ensure safe working conditions.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in working order.
- Perform standard, preventative maintenance on all pavement marking equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate various equipment, including airless paint machines, air-atomized paint trucks, epoxy plural component trucks, polyurea plural component trucks, thermoplastic trucks, thermoplastic detail units, thermoplastic hand-liners, grooving trucks, and water-blasting removal trucks.
- Load and unload trucks daily, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment to job sites.
- Drive company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites, adhering to safe driving practices and company policies.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned by management, demonstrating a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and adapt.
- Previous experience in pavement marking, highway construction, or a related field is a plus.
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and operate various equipment.
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology, including smartphones and applications.
- Must have a valid Driver's License and good driving record, with a CDL license preferred.
- Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License Permit prior to employment start date and a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Tanker endorsement within the first year of employment.
- Must have a good driving record with no major violations within the last five years or be accepted by the company insurance policy provider to drive PLP Company vehicles.
- Must comply with PLP Company's Substance Abuse Policy and DOT Drug Control Program, including pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- PLP Company is a union employer, and you must join the Laborers Local Union #1058 and pay dues pursuant to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Must obtain Flagging Certification or Traffic Control Technician Certification.
- Typical physical demands of this job include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting minimum of 50 lbs., carrying, pushing, pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing, and talking.
- Employee must supply their own set of hand tools.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Working outdoors with variable temperature and weather conditions.
- Honest, trustworthy, dependable.
- Punctual, with a strong commitment to arriving at work by the designated start time.
- Willing to work days, nights, weekends, and occasional travel, with a flexible schedule.
- Self-disciplined and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work diligently while under time restraints.
- Desire to learn and be trained, with a willingness to adapt to new situations and challenges.
- Ability to work effectively as a team player, cooperating with co-workers and communicating clearly.
