Radiology Imaging Specialist PRN

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our team on a part-time basis. This role will involve working in various locations within the SSM Health network.
Schedule:PRN / Per Diem Shift (United States of America)
Job SummaryThis Radiology Tech position requires the ability to take x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes. The successful candidate will provide support for the imaging department, preparing patients for radiology exams and assisting technologists as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Ensure patient understanding of procedures, providing educational material as required. Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verifying patient identity according to policies and procedures.
- Support Functions: Assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams, filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts, matching films to folders, and delivery of reports to patient units/physicians.
- Radiation Safety: Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines, preventing unnecessary radiation exposure to patients.
- Medications and Contrast Media: Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Monitoring and Quality Assurance: Observe patients during procedures, report abnormal activity, monitor protocols, and recommend updates or refinements as warranted. Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
- Maintenance and Equipment: Ensure equipment is properly functioning, reporting potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if necessary. Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and other areas.
- Emergency Procedures: May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program, along with one year of experience in a similar role. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification and licensure as a Radiographer in Wisconsin are also required.
Compensation and BenefitsThe estimated hourly rate for this role starts at $55/hour, with daily pay available. Additionally, SSM Health offers a range of benefits, including paid parental leave, flexible payment options, and upfront tuition coverage through FlexPath Funded.
Work Environment: As a Radiology Tech with SSM Health, you will be working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, interacting with patients, colleagues, and management. You will require excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure smooth operation of the imaging department.
Physical Demands: The role involves constant standing and walking, frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Occasional use of colors, bending, stooping, and repetitive movements may also be required.
