Job Summary:

General Description:

The SSBCI Director will drive small business growth by catalyzing lending and investing and building ecosystems that foster opportunity and entrepreneurship, ultimately creating high-quality jobs. To achieve this, the Director will establish strong relationships with stakeholders, attracting private investments that leverage federal and tribal commercial funds while ensuring compliance with Treasury and Cherokee Nation guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish the strategic direction for the small business capital investment program in alignment with the CNEDTA board of directors policy priorities and organizational goals.
  • Design, build, and manage a performing $80M+ investment portfolio for small businesses.
  • Convert a keen understanding of small business clients' needs/goals and convert them into profitable solutions for small business owners and private lenders.
  • Develop and manage relationships with entrepreneurs to address areas of need.
  • Monitor and track SSBCI participants' successes and employment outcomes.
  • Create, manage, and monitor program budgets for operations and create reports for the funding agency regarding SSBCI activities, successes, and other details as determined by the agency.
  • Support new business development initiatives.
  • Analysis of risks for complex small business loans by performing advanced-level accounting/financial analysis for complex loan requests.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans to promote the SSBCI (or lending) program to the banking and business communities.
  • Review and analyze risk on large loan requests.
  • Assure audit compliance and procedure quality.
  • Develop and/or revise procedures to accommodate SSBCI (or lending program) updates and changes.
  • Evaluate needs and connect small business owners with legal, accounting, and financial advisory services.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Manage a diverse internal and external team fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Master's degree in Business Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • More than 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
