Job Title: X-Ray TechnologistDepartment: Imaging
Schedule: 11:30-8pm Monday through Friday
Essential Job Functions:- Manage delivery of care and patient safety.
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results and minimize anxiety.
- Operate CR/Digital X-ray system and imaging equipment properly, safely, and efficiently.
- Perform Bone Density exams.
- Obtain and document patient history and pertinent information, assessing patients for potential risk factors.
- Ensure proper patient identification and demographics in PACS.
- Clarify and follow doctor's orders, scanning necessary information in PACS.
- Complete procedures within an acceptable time frame.
- Produce quality diagnostic images for interpretation, including positioning and technique.
- Maintain x-ray room cleanliness and adhere to infection control standards.
- Perform QA/QC testing as required by the State.
- Prioritize and organize work assignments, adjusting priorities based on changing situations.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in the technologist work area.
- Consult and communicate with other departments professionally.
- Plan delivery of care according to patient activity and staff competencies.
- Demonstrate awareness of Radiation Safety procedures for self and others.
- Assist Radiologist in performing fluoroscopic procedures, obtaining patient information/chart notes, and documenting fluoroscopy time and scans.
- Ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks.
- Follow department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.
- Follow sterile procedures.
- Verify exams in the PACS system.
- Direct daily operations of all radiology functions in all locations.
- Demonstrate decision-making, delegation, and patient/staff welfare.
- Maintain equipment records and recommend replacement of outdated or poorly functioning equipment.
- Plan and assist in the orientation of new technical staff.
- Implement and oversee daily, monthly, semi-annual, and annual Quality Control as mandated by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
- Demonstrate understanding and awareness of safety and radiation protection.
- Cancel and reschedule patient appointments as needed.
- Replenish and change supplies in assigned areas as needed.
- Demonstrate understanding of safety, health, and moral needs of customers and co-workers.
- Perform Gen. Xray and Bone Density procedures in satellite offices when requested.
- Other job duties as required.
- Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration.
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into account.
- Physical mobility, including movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers.
- Balance during climbing, bending, and/or reaching.
- Endurance, including continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking.
- Chemicals, chemotherapy, and fumes.
- Loud noises.
- Allergens: dust, mold, and/or pollen.
- Radiation.
- Sharps.
- Latex.
- Combative patients/visitors.
- Exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.
- Contact with patients or patient specimens is possible.
- Unplanned or unexpected exposure.
- Diploma from a vocational/technical school required. Associates degree preferred.
- 0-1 years experience required. 2-4 years preferred. Prior radiology technologist experience required. Knowledge of procedural details required.
- ARRT certificate required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. License NJ Bureau of Radiological Health required.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy required.
- Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills required.
- Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
- Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window-based environment preferred.
