We are currently offering a unique position for a Hospice Physician. We invite qualified candidates who are passionate about providing supportive care to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Certify in writing that each patient considered for hospice admission is terminally ill, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and hospice protocols.
- Oversee medical services for hospice patients, ensuring continuity of care and effective management of pain and symptoms associated with terminal conditions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress in end-stage disease within the patient/family record.
- Keep medical staff privileges in good standing at facilities providing short-term inpatient care for hospice patients.
- Participate in the development and ongoing assessment of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) Plan of Care, ensuring it is established prior to the initiation of hospice services.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
- Current, valid medical license in California.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred.
- Experience in hospice or palliative care is preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding terminal illness certification for hospice care.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of an Interdisciplinary Group.
- Commitment to the philosophy of hospice care and palliative interventions.
- Strong communication skills to engage with clinical and non-clinical staff, patients, and their families.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Work is typically performed in an office setting.
- Occasional local travel for patient visits may be required.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials may occur, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.
- Physical activities may include stretching, bending, stooping, standing, sitting, walking, and reaching.
- On-call hours may be necessary.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as needed for job functions.
