Position Overview
The role involves the upkeep and management of the outdoor spaces at Middlebury College throughout the designated seasons.

Employment Type
This is a part-time role that does not offer benefits and is classified as non-exempt. The starting hourly wage for this position is $23.59.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with team members and adhere to directives from management.
  • Prepare equipment for campus events.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of tools and machinery.
  • Utilize machinery for seasonal grounds upkeep.
  • Remove litter and debris from the premises.
  • Prepare sports fields for competitions.
  • Prepare soil, sow seeds, irrigate, and fertilize areas for new grass development.
  • Maintain grassy areas.
  • Plant, irrigate, trim, and mulch flower beds, as well as shrub and tree areas.
  • Execute all tasks in a safe and professional manner, adhering to departmental guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Services and Recycling departments as needed.
  • Perform maintenance tasks related to plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and painting when required.

Qualifications

Education
A high school diploma is preferred. A vocational background is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
Familiarity with equipment operation and a willingness to learn are essential. Previous experience in lawn care and landscape management is beneficial. A fundamental understanding of horticulture or landscape maintenance is required.

A valid driver's license and proficient driving skills are necessary.
Strong interpersonal abilities are essential.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in lawn care and landscape management.
