Van Metre Companies is a reputable real estate development and construction company, seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Administrative Group Assistant to join its Corporate Accounting and Finance Department in Fairfax. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative and bookkeeping skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

This is a hybrid role that requires 2-3 days of work per week at the corporate office, with occasional visits to the Broadlands Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the office, supporting financial team leadership, and providing support on basic financial tasks.

About the Role

The Bookkeeper/Administrative Group Assistant will perform various financial responsibilities, including:

  • Bank Reconciliations: Assist in preparation and review of various bank reconciliations
  • Cash Management: Support with processing, coding, and preparing Corporate credit card journal entries, cash receipt transactions, and journal entries
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare month-end statements with conjunction with the corporate accounting team, assist with budget preparation, including workpaper preparation and data entry
  • Tax Compliance: Support with 1099 preparation and filings, process all 1099 and support documentation for tax compliance

The candidate will also perform various administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Scheduling: Manage multiple fluctuating calendars by planning and scheduling calls, meetings, and conferences
  • Documentation: Prepare and coordinate documentation, reports, financial data, and handle logistics for meetings
  • Communication: Communicate with executives, investors, and vendors with discretion, confidentiality, and timeliness
  • Office Management: Order, stock, and organize supplies, oversee and maintain general office processes
Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative role, preferably in a professional office environment
  • Basic accounting experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with DocuSign and SharePoint
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks
  • Willingness to learn and be flexible with schedule and tasks
