The successful candidate will possess a foundational understanding of the inspection, design, and construction processes related to rail systems, track layouts, and culvert structures. This role offers the chance to collaborate with seasoned engineers, gaining insights into design principles and evaluating existing rail frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in diverse planning, design, and construction initiatives.
- Conduct field assessments and inspections.
- Assist in the preparation of technical design documentation, calculations, and reports.
- Utilize design software for structural components such as bridges and retaining walls.
- Create construction documents, including detailed drawings and specifications.
- Participate in discussions with clients and stakeholders, contributing to meeting agendas and content.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Basic knowledge of structural engineering principles.
- Familiarity with civil and structural design software applications.
- Strong commitment to collaborating with clients, public stakeholders, and team members.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Interest in working on large-scale, multidisciplinary rail projects that demand innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with MicroStation, OpenRail, OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
- Hands-on experience on construction sites.
- Prior involvement in freight and passenger railroad design and engineering.
Salary range: $58,000 - $77,966.00
