Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Expertise/Nursing Process (E 40%)

  1. Comply with the policies, procedures, and protocols established by Patient Care Services and the University Health System.
  2. Complete orientation within the designated timeframe.
  3. Delegate tasks in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act and implement the nursing process. Gather basic level data; adhere to standards and guidelines; identify significant changes in patient conditions and seek assistance as needed. Follow a structured plan of care.
  4. Demonstrate a willingness to be mentored and engage in discussions regarding patient care and practice issues.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is highly preferred. Verification of course completion in alignment with all American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support and Health Care Provider guidelines is mandatory. Pediatric Advanced Life Support training is required for Inpatient Pediatrics within one year of employment.

Licensure/Certification:

A valid license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is essential. Candidates must possess a current AHA PALS and BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card. Additionally, a current APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider card must be obtained within one year of employment.
