Delaware Psychiatric Center (DPC) is seeking a skilled Forensic Security Officer I to join our elite team. As a vital guardian, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both male and female clients from the Department of Correction (DOC) as well as our dedicated staff.

We offer a dynamic environment with a 24-hour operation, spanning three shifts. Our facility has been ranked at level five by the federal Bureau of Prisons, securing our position as a pinnacle of security within the Criminal Justice System.

Your role will involve significant responsibilities, including:

  • Responding to crisis and emergency situations
  • Conducting foot patrols of patient units and room/building searches
  • Monitoring patients during meals and group activities

The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, with the ability to alert nursing and clinical staff of behavioral changes. You will also be required to take action to de-escalate potentially violent or disruptive situations.

In addition to your duties, you will maintain control of persons and property, in compliance with policies related to safety, security, and orderliness. This includes monitoring the safety of state property and staff, as well as ensuring the accurate identification and verification of authorized access through electronic intercom and closed-circuit camera systems.
