Job Overview

The Senior Audit Staff Accountant will engage in accounting functions across a range of assignments, including audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements for governmental entities.

You will oversee the effective management and execution of audit assignments, collaborating as a team member or leading audit teams on substantial, intricate projects.

Depending on the assignment, you will report to one or more members of the senior audit management team while managing and guiding the daily tasks of junior auditors.


Goals & Objectives:
  • Independently plan, schedule, execute, and review audit assignments.
  • Manage the more intricate components of an assignment, providing essential insights and analyses.
  • Supervise, mentor, guide, and assess the work of team members.
  • Start to build a reputation both internally and externally as a knowledgeable expert and trusted advisor.
  • Begin to comprehend and develop marketing strategies.
  • Initiate the establishment of relationships with referral sources.

Key Responsibilities:

Possess a comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting and auditing standards, the AICPA Compilation and Review Standards, common accounting and audit methodologies, and the firm's quality control protocols.

Utilize knowledge of internal controls and client operations to identify risks and provide suitable recommendations to the Manager, Principal, or Shareholder.

Oversee staff auditors assigned to engagements, offering guidance and conducting a thorough review of deliverables.

Ensure that audit conclusions are documented appropriately and are based on adequate audit evidence, considering the associated risk level.

Develop audit programs and testing methodologies relevant to risk and testing objectives.

Gather and evaluate evidence to ensure that audit conclusions are well-supported.

Complete or review engagement programs and audit risk assessments for approval.

Prepare and/or review workpapers, correspondence, and financial statements, including footnote disclosures.

Collaborate with clients to address issues or challenges identified during the audit process.

Ensure billings are completed before the due date.

Aim to meet charge hour targets.
