Job Summary

The Nursing Education Specialist supports individual, unit, organization and network learners in interprofessional practice and learning environments to facilitate the continuous development along the continuum from novice to expert. This role functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor learners and educators, champion of scientific inquiry and partner in practice transitions, to impact patient outcomes and champion network strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess data based on situational urgency.
  • Assess and analyze data to develop tailored plans, drawing on adult learning theories, experience, knowledge and evidence-based practice.
  • Support individual, unit, organization and network learners in interprofessional practice and learning environments.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary education team.
  • Assist in development of strategies for clinical success of new orientees within the Operating Room, Pre/post-op/PACU and Endoscopy.
  • Conduct ongoing competency check-offs and education for all staff.

Requirements

  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree: Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited school of nursing.
  • Required enrolled in a Master's Degree program upon entry to the position and complete the Master's Degree program within 24 months of accepting the role.
  • Required Certifications/Licensures: Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), ANCC Nursing Professional Development.
  • A minimum of THREE (3) years' experience in nursing and at least ONE (1) year' experience in an Educator role.
  • Exceptional communication and technical skills.
  • Exceptional relationship skills.
  • Skill in precepting/mentoring.
