Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated Nutritional Services Cook and Aide to contribute to our Nutrition Services Team. The individual in this role will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to established recipes, formulas, and menu cycles. This position may involve supervising an assistant or helper.

The Nutritional Services Cook and Aide will collaborate with the Dietary Director or Dietitian to address food requirements, modified diets, and menu adjustments. Responsibilities include operating commercial and large-scale cooking equipment and appliances, as well as performing routine tasks in the cafeteria, kitchen, or patient tray line. Duties may involve serving food from counters or steam tables, pouring beverages, arranging individual servings of salads, appetizers, desserts, and more. Additionally, the role may require assisting cooks with simpler tasks such as opening cans, preparing vegetables, and cleaning dishes and utensils.

This is an entry-level position.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to follow both oral and written instructions and make independent decisions within the scope of duties.
  2. Must be at least 18 years old to work in the kitchen.
  3. Previous experience as a cook in a hospital, nursing home, hotel, or restaurant is preferred.
  4. Completion of dietary safety orientation and quiz during orientation; Food Safety course immediately upon hire; Modified diets course within one month of hire date; and Serv Safe course within three months of hire date is required.
