POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Technician II is responsible for the facilitation, setup, assembly, calibration, testing, and disassembly of plasma processing equipment while meticulously documenting results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role encompasses all functions of a Manufacturing Technician I, while also extending to a comprehensive range of products and equipment, including prototype systems. The Manufacturing Technician II operates with minimal supervision.
- Facilitates equipment installation by applying water, electrical power, and leveling machinery.
- Positions and assembles intricate electro/mechanical components according to blueprints, schematics, and established procedures using hand tools.
- Conducts complex mechanical alignments and calibrations of equipment to meet ATP (Acceptance Test Procedure) quality standards and other testing protocols.
- Performs leak detection on vacuum and mechanical assemblies utilizing specialized systems.
- Troubleshoots equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and vacuum systems, to enable power-up and data collection. Records and reports test outcomes.
- Develops and refines testing procedures for fellow technicians.
- May offer guidance and training to junior technicians.
- Ensures compliance with Class 10,000 to 100 clean room standards.
- Prepares systems for shipping, including cleaning, disassembly, and coordination with shipping logistics.
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Adheres to all applicable Safety & Health, Quality & Environmental processes of Plasma-Therm.
SUPERVISORY ROLE:
None
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree from a two-year college, technical school, or military training.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience as a test technician is required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints, drawings, schematics, technical documentation, and related materials.
- Capable of reading, interpreting, and adhering to safety regulations, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Skilled in operating impedance meters and other specialized electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to apply fundamental mathematical skills to resolve technical challenges.
- Experienced in using crimpers, torque wrenches, vacuum leak detectors, soldering irons, and other assembly/testing hand tools.
- Familiar with Windows Office applications.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The work environment is typical of a manufacturing clean room facility and associated areas such as stockrooms, machine shops, and laboratories.
- The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, with the potential to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- While performing regular duties, the technician may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, and potentially harmful chemicals. Compliance with safety protocols and use of protective equipment is mandatory.
