Job Title: Tax and Financial Advisor

Estimated Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year.

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax and Financial Advisor to join our team at Olsen Accounting. As an Accountant and Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, maintaining financial records, and providing tax preparation services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Management:
    • Manage client relationships, respond to their inquiries, and provide regular updates on their financial situation.
  • Financial Record Maintenance:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and monthly/year-end closing processes for numerous clients in various industries.
  • Tax Preparation & Compliance:
    • Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and nonprofit entities.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines by staying up-to-date with changes in tax laws and policies.
  • Audit & Client Advisory Support:
    • Support audits by providing requested financial data and documentation in an organized manner.
    • Communicate effectively with clients regarding accounting queries, tax filing deadlines, and documentation requests.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • 2-5 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax laws (federal and state).
    • Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., Intuit ProConnect, Drake, or similar) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, QBO, Xero, Blackbaud/Financial Edge or similar).
  • Technical & Analytical Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare, interpret, and analyze financial data.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and documentation.
  • Communication & Organizational Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients and internal teams.
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Regulatory & Tax Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with tax laws at the federal and state levels.
    • Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping best practices.
  • Problem-Solving Ability:
    • Ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and financial issues in a timely and efficient manner.
