Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Science Teacher to join our team at Community Unit School District 308. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading students towards the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences that will contribute to the development of skills necessary for becoming a mature and responsible individual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect high-level learning and curriculum standards, incorporating a solid understanding of content and pedagogy.
  • Classroom Environment: Establish a learning environment that functions effectively, promoting respect, rapport, and high expectations for all students.
  • Instructional Delivery: Engage students in learning through activities and assignments that support a high level of rigor and are appropriate for students' cultures and levels of understanding.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Utilize assessments that allow students to be fully aware of their criteria and performance, providing timely and high-quality feedback to facilitate student self-assessment and monitoring of progress.
  • Professional Development: Reflect on teaching practices, maintain accurate records, and actively participate in the professional learning community to improve instructional effectiveness.
Requirements
  • A valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Science Endorsement
  • Recent teaching experience in the subject matter (with the exception of new graduates)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods, and current teaching techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others
