Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Opportunity

The MetroHealth System is committed to delivering exceptional anesthesia care to our patients. Our Anesthesia Care Team model brings together CRNAs with Staff Anesthesiologists, SRNAs, Residents, CAAs and SAAs to provide comprehensive care.

As a CRNA, you will exemplify excellence in all facets of anesthesia practice, including case management, education, and clinical research. You will work collaboratively with an anesthesiologist to deliver exceptional anesthesia for a wide range of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-anesthetic assessments, discuss anesthetic management, and administer anesthesia under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologists.
  • Assemble, prepare, and test necessary supplies, equipment, and monitors prior to an anesthetic.
  • Select, obtain, and administer the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance, and emergence phases of anesthesia.
  • Administer various types of anesthesia, including inhalation, intravenous, spinal, epidural, and peripheral nerve blocks.
  • Recognize alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, take appropriate action, and notify the responsible physician as indicated.
  • Transfer patients to the appropriate postoperative area and assist in postoperative care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and research initiatives within MHS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and the ability to lift and transport patients.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure.
