Job Overview

We are currently seeking a part-time, flexible Crisis Support Specialist (CSS) to enhance our crisis intervention program. The ideal candidate will excel in dynamic environments and possess a strong commitment to assisting community members during their most difficult times.

Crisis Support Specialists are available around the clock on a rotational basis to provide essential support to individuals in crisis. Your role will involve assessing immediate safety measures and delivering suitable interventions and resources tailored to the current mental health requirements. These services are primarily offered via telephone through our crisis hotline, with mobile support provided as necessary, often in clinical settings such as hospitals.

Qualifications Required:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology, Anthropology, Political Science, History, Criminal Justice, Theology, Nursing, Counseling, Education, or a related discipline.
OR
Registered Nurse
OR
A High School diploma or equivalent with 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology, or other social sciences, along with 2 years of experience in public or private Human Services, including 1 year of direct mental health care experience.
OR
A consumer or family member with 1 year of advocacy or leadership experience in a consumer or family group, along with a High School diploma or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • Maintain all necessary state and federal clearances.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel to assigned locations.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills.
  • Be proficient in using technology for documentation purposes.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in an on-call rotation during non-operating hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends, in line with program requirements.
  • Provide telephonic and/or mobile crisis intervention responses during these periods.
  • Gather and review initial intake/referral/payer information, documenting it in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to consumers of Crisis Intervention services as directed by the Clinical Supervisor, adhering to practice standards.
  • Support, educate, and assist in training/mentoring other on-call staff involved in the crisis program.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all consumer-related contacts, maintaining clarity, timeliness, and compliance with crisis service delivery standards.

Work Schedule
The schedule and hours are variable as part of an on-call rotation.

Compensation
$15-$25/hour

This position offers variable pay rates based on weekday/weekend per diem and services rendered:

Weekday on-call per diem: $60 First on Call / $50 Secondary / $40 Tertiary / $20 Quaternary

Weekend on-call day per diem: $120 First on Call / $100 Secondary / $80 Tertiary / $20 Quaternary

Holiday on-call day per diem: $150 First on Call / $120 Secondary / $100 Tertiary / $50 Quaternary

Telephone service delivery: $15/hour

Mobile service delivery: $25/hour plus round-trip mileage reimbursement.
