Job Summary

Sierra Nevada Communications LLC is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Broadband Infrastructure Specialist. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing our broadband internet, TV, and VoIP services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, splicing cables, and installing telecommunications equipment.
  • Connect fiber/coax/cat5e drops, ONT termination, and trenching, installing, and burying conduit.
  • Maintain network integrity by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network backup, and restoration procedures.
  • Document network configurations by labeling and routing equipment and cables and recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
  • Install and configure internet gateways, routers, modems, and other devices.
  • Configure customer-owned computers, printers, TVs, and other devices, including programming remote controls and completing channel scans.
  • Communicate regularly with customers and other department employees.
  • Educate customers on their internet, TV, and VoIP services.
  • Complete wireless and other site surveys for residential and commercial leads.
  • Record and document work completed to ensure proper accounting of company labor, expenses, and assets.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Verify service by testing connectivity.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours with the understanding that workdays can be in excess of normal hours and some weekend and holiday work will be required.
  • Ability to be on-call concerning the workload and emergencies.
  • Ability to visually perceive differences in wire cable colors.
  • Ability to complete on-the-job and/or classroom training to remain competitive in the Information of Things (IOT) industry.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper use of hand tools.
  • Ability to work with testing equipment and document results.
  • Understanding and knowledge of WiFi.
  • Ability to use basic computer tools (change IP, PING, traceroute, speed test).
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper safety practices.
  • Must be able to regularly work and drive in inclement weather conditions, including snow.
  • Must be able to occasionally work in high precarious places, i.e. booms and ladders, as well as small confined spaces like attics and crawl spaces.
  • Ability to learn quickly and on the job.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of internet installation or telecommunications experience preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of general construction practices is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a valid California Driver's License and driving record that meets the company's minimum insurance requirements.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug/alcohol, and physical screening.
