About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Non CDL Delivery Driver to join our team at Hughes Supply dba Hajoca Corporation. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely operating a truck to deliver merchandise to various locations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a truck safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, securing the load properly to prevent damage or loss.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy, understanding the shipping documents associated with the merchandise for each delivery.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it, obtaining legible signatures for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location, keeping the truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old due to driving requirements.
  • Possess a proper and valid driver's license.
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.

Our ideal candidate will also:

  • Know the laws, rules, and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer-related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
