Available Shifts: Weekends, 4pm to Midnight & Midnight to 8am

Overview

ASM Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at The Oncenter Convention Center, Arena, and Theaters. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our guests, staff, and clients. Your primary responsibility will be to enforce security measures, deter potential incidents, and respond promptly to any security concerns that may arise during regular operations or events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor surveillance systems to identify potential security threats and maintain a vigilant presence in key areas to deter unauthorized access.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, staff, and emergency personnel to provide information and directions.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and compile accurate incident reports.
  • Verify credentials and enforce access control measures to restrict entry to authorized personnel only.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure clients and guests experience the highest quality service during their events.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to stay updated on security procedures, emergency response protocols, and industry best practices.


Requirements

  • New York State Security Guard License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in security roles, preferably in a large venue or event setting.
  • Previous hospitality industry, customer service, or retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent observational and communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures.
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and basic first aid.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and adeptness in managing sensitive situations.
  • Adaptability to remain flexible and responsive to evolving circumstances.
  • Proficiency in handling and resolving high-tension situations, effectively managing challenging guests.
  • Clear and effective verbal communication to interact with guests, staff, and emergency personnel.


Physical Abilities

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, or patrol extended periods during events and shifts.
  • Ability to maintain composure, react promptly, and make decisions swiftly in high-stress situations.
  • Agility and flexibility to swiftly walk, run, or move to respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Sharp vision to monitor and observe activities and identify potential security threats.
  • Capacity to lift or move objects exceeding 50lbs, barricades, or equipment when necessary.
