Coat and Finish Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Coat and Finish Specialist to join our team at Labor Finders. As a Coat and Finish Specialist, you will be responsible for applying paints, stains, and coatings to interior and exterior walls, new buildings, and other structural surfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Applying paints, stains, and coatings to surfaces using various tools and equipment.
• Reading blueprints and instructions to determine the type and amount of work required.
• Making on-site preparations such as building scaffolding and covering fixtures.
• Preparing surfaces for painting by scraping and sanding.
• Filling cracks and holes with appropriate materials.
• Mixing paint and other materials to achieve the desired color or texture.
• Applying varnish and other finishes to protect and enhance surfaces.
• Carrying or lifting heavy objects and working in awkward positions.
• Calculating costs and negotiating prices with clients.
• Ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed, including wearing protective gear.
• Standing for long periods of time and moving heavy supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a painter, preferably in a commercial or construction setting.
• A strong understanding of painting materials and techniques, including the ability to choose the correct tool for each job.
• Good math skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in a related field is preferred.
