GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Beauty Service Assistant plays a vital role in connecting with clients, assessing their hair care needs, and providing tailored product and service recommendations.
This position serves as a stepping stone for individuals aspiring to become stylists, focusing on delivering exceptional service while enhancing the overall guest experience.
Initially, the Assistant will work closely with a seasoned Elite or Master Stylist for the first three months, concentrating on performance metrics, guest relations, and adherence to operational protocols.
As they progress into months four to six, they will begin to service clients independently while continuing to assist in various capacities.A genuine enthusiasm for the beauty sector, coupled with outstanding customer service skills and a willingness to expand technical knowledge, is essential for success in this role.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
The Beauty Service Assistant embodies Ulta Beauty's mission and values, consistently demonstrating them through the following responsibilities:
Performance
Provide exceptional customer service and contribute to achieving the store's objectives related to sales, guest loyalty, and inventory management.
- Offering product recommendations
- Assisting with shampoo and treatment processes
- Performing blowouts and styling
- Supporting color applications
- Aiding in foil application
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization
- Encouraging pre-booking
- Suggesting retail products
After the initial three months, the Assistant will perform hair services, including cuts, color, treatments, styling, and makeup applications, as applicable.
Assist in executing in-store events and promotions that elevate the guest experience.
Stay informed about current industry trends, products, and services to provide informed recommendations to guests.
People
Build strong relationships with clients through consultations and personalized service recommendations.
Serve all clients promptly and efficiently, ensuring a positive experience.
Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to deliver a comprehensive guest experience.
Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners to enhance service delivery.
Promote the benefits of the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app to clients.
Process
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies and procedures.
Adhere to safety and sanitation standards before, during, and after services, following state regulations.
Utilize booking systems to schedule follow-up services and events.
Communicate supply needs to management to ensure readiness for guest services.
Maintain high operational standards, including cleanliness of all areas within the store.
Comply with the Ulta Beauty dress code.
Protect company assets by adhering to loss prevention practices while delivering outstanding customer service.
Execute additional operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Cosmetology license required.
Skills
Basic knowledge of contemporary salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, and makeup application.
Ability to recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in building and maintaining customer relationships.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent mobility and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Regular bending, reaching, and lifting of up to 10 lbs.
Continuous use of hands for coordination and manipulation of tools and products.
