Senior Laboratory Technologist

As a Senior Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting a range of routine and specialized diagnostic tests as required by healthcare professionals, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and prioritize all assigned tasks in accordance with defined laboratory policies and procedures.
- Assess test outcomes utilizing specific laboratory procedures outlined in the departmental policy manual.
- Execute urgent testing in compliance with laboratory guidelines or as instructed by the immediate supervisor.
- Communicate critical results promptly to the appropriate nursing or medical personnel as per laboratory policy.
- Complete all documentation related to assigned tasks following the laboratory policy manual before the end of your shift.
- Conduct necessary preventive maintenance in line with departmental schedules.
- Initiate appropriate actions based on quality control data fluctuations.
- Ensure proper controls are run for each assay alongside patient assays.
- Document quality control results accurately and enter data into the laboratory information system immediately after completion.
- Evaluate quality control outcomes prior to reporting any patient results.
- Maintain compliance with all safety protocols and procedures consistently.
- Safeguard against any breaches in universal precautions and properly manage biohazard waste.
- Handle needles and biological specimens safely, adhering to all policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
ASCP board certification is preferred. Candidates should possess a generalist background with knowledge in transfusion medicine.
Education and Experience:
Candidates must have completed a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) degree program. Experience in transfusion medicine is required, and a comprehensive understanding of all facets of clinical laboratory operations is expected.
Certification/Licensure:
ASCP board certification is preferred.
