Position Summary
The CNC Milling Technician is responsible for setting up, verifying programs, and operating CNC machinery to execute a series of intricate machining tasks that adhere to strict tolerance and finish specifications as outlined by customer requirements or catalog standards. This role involves loading components into the machine, running cycles, and identifying issues in machine performance, such as worn or damaged cutting tools. This is an intermediate-level position focused on horizontal machining centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehend program formats and operational data, defining and coding tooling, fixtures, and machine setups.
- Assemble, mount, and secure necessary tooling and fixtures.
- Calibrate fixtures to designated reference points and set stops accordingly.
- Conduct standard machine shop operations, including the use of computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
- Identify and report defective materials or potential issues to management or designated personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and equipment.
- Perform various machining tasks, including milling, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing, and sandblasting.
- Inspect machined products and document results as required.
- Complete necessary paperwork in accordance with company procedures.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures established by the company.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of computer systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, follow routers, perform basic calculations, and utilize handheld measuring tools.
- Physical capability to frequently lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Understanding of company quality and safety standards.
- Familiarity with Mold Base assembly and its components.
- Proficient in CAD CAM and/or Master CAM or SolidWorks/CAMWorks for generating tool paths, including tool selection and cutter path posting.
Education
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience is necessary.
