Summary:
As a Speech Pathologist, you will deliver rehabilitation services in accordance with state licensure requirements. You will design and implement treatment programs aimed at restoring and preserving functional abilities following medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities.

Operate with a high degree of independence while adhering to Best Practice guidelines and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to formulate optimal care plans for patients.

Responsibilities:

EDUCATION
Professional degree from an accredited institution recognized by the NYS Department of Education

Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's)

Registered and licensed by the NYS Department of Education

EXPERIENCE
Prior experience in a comparable clinical environment is preferred. Familiarity with Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies is advantageous. Vital Stim certification is a plus.

Ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family members, and visitors

Willingness to explore and integrate new methods and principles into existing Speech and Language/Swallowing/Cognitive Therapy Services

Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language

Knowledge of Speech and Language/Swallowing/Cognitive Therapy protocols

Conduct evaluations and provide treatment for residents/patients within Speech and Language/Swallowing/Cognitive Therapy programs

Participate in the Care Plan and MDS processes

Screen residents for Speech and Language/Swallowing/Cognitive therapy interventions

Maintain documentation in accordance with CHS LTC Policies and Procedures, as well as state and federal regulations

Demonstrate effective communication skills, including approach, tone, speed, respectfulness, and non-verbal cues

Physical Assessment:
Ability to evaluate the physical and psychosocial effects of disease and aging on daily functioning; this includes cognitive assessments, swallowing evaluations, and speech and language assessments.

Professional Skills:
Exhibit professional competencies through comprehensive system reviews focused on disabilities and impairments impacting well-being and physical/psychosocial function. Adhere to best practice standards as established by ASHA and the NYSSLHA.

Proficient in navigating electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
