Role Summary:

The Plant Manager oversees the daily manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient management of the Manufacturing, Packaging, Shipping, Receiving, and Sanitation departments across a three-shift schedule. This leadership position is responsible for establishing and enforcing plant policies and procedures that prioritize food and personnel safety, optimize production schedules, and ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations. The Plant Manager will also plan, organize, and direct operations to enhance productivity, delivery, and efficiency while maintaining a world-class facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the Manufacturing, Packaging, Shipping, Receiving, and Sanitation teams to eliminate waste and continuously enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) by implementing Lean manufacturing principles, including 5-S, Gemba, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet or exceed industry and customer standards for safety, delivery, quality, and cost.
  • Establish and enforce food safety protocols and best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower team members to uphold company values and achieve operational objectives.
  • Develop and manage manufacturing business plans, including labor hours and production costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all GMPs and environmental regulations.
  • Train employees on Standard Work, SOPs, SSOPs, and Quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on manufacturing plans and new product introductions.
  • Engage with sales and supply chain teams to optimize customer and vendor relationships.
  • Participate in budgeting and purchasing decisions for new equipment and services.
  • Monitor and manage departmental objectives and KPIs to meet performance targets.
  • Oversee the annual budget for the areas of responsibility.
  • Support sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing waste.
  • Analyze production reports and resolve operational issues to minimize costs.
  • Implement lean manufacturing techniques for materials management and production scheduling.
  • Enhance Quality Assurance programs in collaboration with the Food Safety Manager.
  • Promote positive employee relations to foster an engaged workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace safety guidelines.
  • Develop and implement specific plant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to meet production goals.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing with leadership responsibilities in a food production environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in analytical and problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP, and WMS systems.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of financial reporting and budget management.
