Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Care Technician to join our team at First Step of Sarasota, Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff and the treatment team in providing mental health and substance abuse services to adults at the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU).
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light laundry duties and ensuring client and work areas are tidy.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required. Experience in a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Effectively work with the treatment team to create a safe and therapeutic environment for clients.
  • Provide basic care needs such as hygiene, eating, and activities of daily living.
  • Accurately document Q15 minute safety checks on all shifts.
  • Complete unit checks at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in recording client vital signs.
  • Collect urine specimens using appropriate techniques.
  • Promote client safety and wellness through non-enabling approaches.
  • Document search and seizure information accurately.
  • Use de-escalation skills and physical aggression intervention skills when necessary.
  • Perform light laundry duties as needed.
  • Show computer literacy.
  • Complete all training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Assume additional responsibilities and assist colleagues as needed.
