Job Summary:

O. A. Newton is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our team in our Harrington, DE facility. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for assembling machinery and equipment using mechanical or pneumatic conveying systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand blueprints, bills of materials, and job orders to ensure accurate assembly and testing of equipment.
  • Align, fit, and assemble components to achieve proper operating performance and appearance.
  • Work with various electromechanical systems, including motors, pulleys, bearings, pumps, blowers, pneumatics, and PLCs.
  • Perform rigging of larger components in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Test final assemblies to ensure functional requirements are met.
  • Monitor inventory of components and ensure timely delivery to meet production schedule deadlines.
  • Collaborate with engineering to correct problems and make product improvements.
Requirements:
  • Ability to use a wide range of power tools and hand tools.
  • 2 years minimum experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and use independent judgment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Effective communication and understanding of job instructions in the English language.
  • Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane/forklift and lift 50-100 lbs. when required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
