Network Engineering Manager

Overview:
We're seeking an experienced People Manager to lead our Engineering Business Support team focused on data network transmission and management. This role will drive operational excellence, foster team growth, and oversee daily activities ensuring reliable and high-performance data networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of network engineers responsible for configuring, installing, monitoring, and patching.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture, encouraging continuous learning and development.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and ensure the team meets key operational goals and SLAs.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews
- Operational Oversight:
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the team effectively monitors and manages data network health, performance, and availability.
- Manage incident escalations, providing guidance on troubleshooting and ensuring issues are addressed within defined timelines.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents, maintenance activities, and performance metrics.
- Implement process improvements to optimize NOC workflows and minimize service disruptions.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Act as a liaison between the team and other internal departments to ensure a coordinated approach to network management.
- Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain strong relationships with external vendors and partners to facilitate issue resolution and support.
- Technical Mentorship:
- Provide technical guidance to the team on networking concepts, troubleshooting methodologies, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in data networking and telecom technologies to help the team navigate evolving challenges.
- Incident & Problem Management:
- Ensure the team follows defined incident management and escalation protocols, minimizing downtime and service interruptions.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues, working with the team to identify long-term solutions and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Technical Experience:
- 3-5 years of technical experience in a network engineering or related technical support role, ideally within the telecom industry.
- Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, SNMP).
- Experience with MMS, SMS, RCS, and other messaging protocols preferred.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with tools such as NetScout, Wireshark, RAN tools, CDR tools, and provisioning tools.
- Ability to use ticketing tools such as Service Now, OneConsole, and Axiom.
- Proven experience with OEMs such as Nokia, Ericsson, Mavenier, Cisco, JMA, Corning, Commscope, ADRF, Solid.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, etc.) are a plus.
- At least 1-2 years in a leadership or people management position, with experience leading technical teams.
- Leadership Skills:
- Strong people management abilities, with a focus on team development, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to motivate and guide a team through challenges, ensuring high levels of engagement and accountability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams and with stakeholders at all levels.
