Job Summary:
Western Kentucky University is seeking a part-time teacher aide to assist classroom teachers with activities and child supervision. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers with daily activities, including meals, toileting, rest time, outside play, field trips, and other learning center activities.
- Support the development of young children through engaging and interactive activities.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must enroll in a Child Development Associate (CDA) program and complete credential requirements within one year of hiring, or enroll in an Early Childhood Education program and obtain an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education within four years of hiring.
- A criminal background check and a copy of a TB skin test are required prior to entering the classroom.
- A copy of a general health/physical is required within thirty days of employment.
Working Conditions:
The part-time teacher aide will work approximately 25 hours per week, with center hours from 7:30am to 5:30pm. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
