OVERVIEW

The IT Senior Associate plays a crucial role in executing advanced professional tasks within technology-focused areas. These specialists are responsible for a variety of activities in programming, technical assistance, and system development, tailored to the specific requirements of the Information Technology department.

Key responsibilities include:

POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the CUNY Administrative Systems Manager, the IT Senior Associate will undertake the following duties:

  • Optimize and manage a range of AWS services to provide scalable and cost-effective solutions.
  • Assist in crafting a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy, ensuring automated backups and failover mechanisms.
  • Write and evaluate code for web applications, primarily in HTML, XML, or JavaScript.
  • Develop and enhance secure web pages to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support for multiple web properties and maintain communication with team members regarding project direction.
  • Conduct routine site audits and perform necessary maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in a technology-related role, or equivalent educational background combined with experience.
  3. Proficiency in the English language.
  4. A valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license in New York State may be required for certain positions.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Proficiency in a comprehensive range of web development tools, including:

  • .NET, C#, PHP, JAVA, HTML, CSS, WordPress CMS
  • Experience with PeopleSoft interfaces, particularly CUNYFirst ERP
  • API development and e-Commerce
  • Knowledge of SEO, SSL, and PCI-Compliance coding
  • Experience in responsive design across various platforms and browsers

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Familiarity with JAVAScript, Django, SQL (JQuery, MS-SQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with PLONE CMS and VoIP integration
  • Understanding of CUNY-specific applications and services
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Problem-solving skills and high-level programming expertise
  • Knowledge of network diagnostics and analytical tools
