Overview:

As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for crafting and presenting a variety of wholesome, appealing, and flavorful soups, salads, main courses, and desserts. Your role will involve creating standardized recipes that align with our commitment to local and organic food sourcing while supporting departmental objectives related to sales, profit margins, and labor efficiency. You will also oversee the activities of member workers in food preparation and ensure exceptional customer service is delivered at all times.

Status:

Full time, competitive hourly wage, flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends required.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary Duties
  • Design and prepare soups, salads, and main dishes according to established guidelines, with a focus on:
    • utilizing seasonal, local, and organic ingredients
    • accommodating a wide range of dietary preferences, including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and meat options
    • innovative ingredient combinations to elevate traditional recipes
    • managing food costs and minimizing waste while maintaining high-quality standards
  • Accurately interpret and execute departmental production schedules
  • Adhere to recipes, ensuring timely and quality completion of all dishes
  • Implement proper food rotation, dating, and storage protocols
Customer Engagement
  • Deliver outstanding service to customers, consistently exceeding their expectations
  • Greet and engage with every individual you encounter
  • Maintain vigilance in the store to ensure a superior customer experience
  • Keep grab-and-go displays and hot food stations well-stocked and visually appealing; manage coffee service area effectively
General Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of menu knowledge and recipe understanding (including taste, presentation, and necessary accompaniments)
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding any necessary adjustments to production schedules

  • Ensure consistency in food preparation while allowing for creativity when appropriate
  • Arrive punctually for scheduled shifts and be flexible with hours as needed

Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in culinary arts or a combination of culinary education and experience
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
  • Proficient in basic cooking techniques, safe knife handling, and sanitation practices
  • Familiar with commercial kitchen equipment and appliances
  • Passionate about cooking and providing excellent service to both staff and customers
  • Ability to remain composed and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs regularly
