The Polysomnographic Technician at Bothwell Regional Health Center is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnographic studies under the supervision of a R.PSG.T and the Sleep Disorder Center Medical Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Introduce patients to the testing environment, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety during testing.
- Prepare patients for procedures, test equipment, and recording devices, and make necessary adjustments.
- Observe and record patient behavior, making changes to monitoring devices and recording equipment as required.
- Collect, analyze, and document data, including alert and sleep stage changes, respiratory and cardiac changes, and changes in neurological status.
- Identify potential emergency situations and respond appropriately.
- Participate in ongoing education in polysomnographic technology, sleep medicine, and related fields.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Approved sleep medicine program by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or educational/experience equivalent
- Current CPR certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Must attend an AASM accredited A-Step program and pass registry within three years of date of hire
- Registry must be held by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (R.PSG.T) and/or American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST)
Preferred qualifications include documented training in EEG or sleep medicine.
