The Phlebotomist is responsible for the collection of quality biological specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate and timely distribution to proper departments. This role requires strong communication skills to provide exceptional customer service to patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities- Perform invasive procedures, including venipuncture, micro-capillary collections, and central line draws, following strict protocols and procedures.
- Provide superior customer service by maintaining positive relations with patients during procedures, responding to their needs, and resolving exceptions.
- Handle specimens with care, selecting the appropriate type to ensure high-quality, reliable test results, and communicate with laboratory staff to ensure timely distribution.
Driver's License: Eligibility under hospital insurance guidelines is required to drive the company vehicle.
Fingerprinting: Mandatory for this role.
Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED: Equivalent experience requires completion of a formal phlebotomy program with classroom and practical experience.
Other RequirementsFollow patient registration procedures, maintain strict identification policies, and adhere to Infection Prevention and Control practices.
Computer skills: Proficiency in Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) is required.
Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of medical information and adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures.
