Position Overview

TFE, Inc. is seeking an experienced Emergency Communications Audio Engineer to contribute to the design and adaptation of audio systems for critical communication environments. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effectiveness of audio solutions within high-stakes facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and verify complex engineering analyses and calculations; determine specifications for materials, equipment, and systems; and address advanced technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project management, vendors, and clients, to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with the Project Quality Plan and established procedures throughout all phases of work.
  • Manage project execution in alignment with approved scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Prepare and evaluate project estimates, schedules, and progress reports, including effort-hour assessments and staffing forecasts.
  • Provide technical guidance for equipment and material procurement, including scope definitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor submissions.
  • Support construction administration by addressing requests for information and managing field modifications.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Audio Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of ten years of relevant audio engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse audiences, including project stakeholders and subcontractors.
  • In-depth technical knowledge essential for successful job performance.
  • Advanced understanding of industry codes and standards.
  • Ability to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on time management and efficiency.
  • Proficient in standard office software applications, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
Discipline-Specific Requirements
  • Utilize Enhanced Acoustic Simulator for Engineers (EASE) software for model development and analysis.
  • Perform speech transmission index (STI) calculations using EASE.
  • Generate various reports from EASE, including speaker data and STI heat maps.
  • Create standard calculation documents based on established templates and EASE outputs.
  • Act as a formal checker for the reports and calculations produced by peers.
  • Review and address comments on design documents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with audio STI analysis utilizing EASE software.
  • Professional Engineer license is advantageous.
  • NICET Level II (or higher) certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Experience in developing control-level schedules and progress reports.
  • Hands-on experience in audio industrial design and field operations.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as Microstation, AutoCAD, or Revit is a plus.
Work Environment

The role primarily involves office-based tasks, with occasional site visits as necessary. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for individuals with disabilities.
