Job Summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider to join our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional care to critically ill cardiac patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to infants, children, and adults with congenital and acquired heart disease.
  • Care for patients with both acute and chronic cardiac disease, including pre and post-operative care.
  • Collaborate with the CICU Attending physician to conduct patient assessment, medical history, physical exams, and diagnose health and developmental problems.
  • Participate in CICU medical rounds, including presentation of clinical information, plan development, and continued management and modification of the plan for patients throughout the shift.
  • Manage ventilators, inotropic support, ECMO, CVVH, emergency situations, and sedation titration for critically ill cardiac patients.
  • Perform procedures such as intubation and central lines, with training provided in simulation and real-time events.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of critical care RN, NP, or PA experience.
  • Solid medical knowledge base for cardiopulmonary critical care medicine with an interest in congenital cardiac anomalies.
  • Critical thinking skills and adaptability on a busy cardiac intensive care unit.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff, and trainees.
  • Current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
