Histology Specialist

Job Summary:

As a Histology Technologist with LifePoint Health, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue specimens for examination by pathologists. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform histology procedures, including fixation, decalcification, dehydration, and embedding of tissue specimens

• Receive and assign accession numbers to tissue and fluid specimens, and log them into the AP computer system

• Process curettings and routine TUR and bone marrow specimens, and report any abnormal or suspicious appearing specimens

• Maintain work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner

• Perform and monitor quality control, calibration, and corrective/preventative maintenance on equipment, instruments, and tests

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• ASCP or equivalent registry certification

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
