Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Catheterization Lab team at Surgical Care Affiliates. As a Cath Lab Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the safety of patients undergoing various medical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides nursing care to ensure the safety of patients, including directing and assisting in carrying out safe aseptic and sterile techniques and procedures.
  • Performs various tasks as a CVL circulator and recovery RN, including preparing the Cath Lab room for patients and procedures, transporting patients to the Cath Lab, and verifying pre-op preparation and procedures.
  • Completes documentation for CVL records and patient charts, including medications and physician orders.
  • Supervises and assists with the proper positioning of patients, performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts, and secures emergency equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Provides assistance to teammates, physicians, and patient families as required.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse with Current State Licensure and Current BLS required.
  • Current ACLS preferred, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years of continuous catheterization lab, ED, or PACU experience required.
  • Previous critical care experience preferred.
Working Knowledge
  • Able to monitor, scrub, and/or circulate on all cath lab procedures, including pacemaker, vascular, cardiac, IR, and pain management procedures.
  • Able to pre-op and recover patients undergoing all types of procedures.
  • Able to provide direct patient care to stable and acute patients.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic tracings.
Technical/Motor Skills
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment, IV infusions, and computer equipment.
  • Ability to operate specialty equipment in the facility and perform tasks at a user level.
Interpersonal Skills
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues and be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental stage of the patient/visitor.
