Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer II/III/IV to join our team at the Texas Department of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing advanced and complex transportation engineering work in various functional areas, including planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and monitor budgets for transportation projects
  • Coordinate with Area Engineers and review contract submissions
  • Oversee contracts, issue work orders, and monitor construction schedules and contractor payments
  • Responsible for Highway Emergency Response Operations and Incident Management
  • Train engineering staff and assist in recommending major maintenance and betterment programs
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings and public hearings
  • Coordinate maintenance matters with Area Engineers and interpret maintenance standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices, and policies
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in transportation engineering, excellent communication and project management skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
