Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Kennel Care Provider is responsible for delivering exceptional care to pets visiting for grooming or boarding services.

This role includes maintaining a clean and secure boarding environment by ensuring the cleanliness of cages, runs, and ward areas, as well as managing laundry duties.

The Kennel Care Provider will walk, feed, and administer medications to pets as needed, under the guidance of a Veterinarian or Technician, based on their experience and confidence level.

Essential Duties
  • Provide excellent care for pets visiting for grooming or boarding.
  • Accurately record client instructions and ensure quality outcomes.
  • Document pet behavior, feeding schedules, and overall condition during visits.
  • Monitor pets for signs of illness or distress.
  • Handle and, when necessary, restrain pets safely.
  • Exercise pets multiple times daily for their well-being.
  • Administer food and liquids according to established requirements.
  • Ensure pets are clean and have been checked by a Technician or Veterinarian before discharge.
  • Maintain proper identification and organization of pets and their belongings.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect kennels and other areas to prevent disease spread.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Launder and dry towels and blankets as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hospital grounds.
  • Assist with medication administration and post-operative care under supervision, if qualified.
  • Provide grooming services as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Availability for full or part-time work.
  • Willingness to work weekends.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
  • References demonstrating client satisfaction are preferred.
  • Ability to lift pets weighing up to 25 pounds; heavier pets may require assistance.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices, including the use of appropriate PPE.
