About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Metal Arts Instructor to join our team at Meristem. As a Metal Arts Instructor, you will play a vital role in teaching and mentoring our students in a hands-on training environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Prepare and deliver lesson plans that cater to the developmental needs of our students, ensuring a progressive and engaging learning experience.
  • Client Assessment and Support: Assess the abilities of our clients, connect them with relevant projects and lessons, and track their progress to ensure optimal skill development.
  • Data Recording and Analysis: Record and analyze daily data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions to support client goals and objectives.
  • Individualized Plans: Develop and implement individualized plans with clients as needed, ensuring their unique needs are met and their progress is tracked.
  • Culture and Environment: Maintain and promote Meristem's cultural norms, contributing to a positive and inclusive environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Space and Resource Management: Manage and maintain the classrooms and materials used in the metal arts program, ensuring a safe and functional learning environment.
  • Staff Collaboration and Training: Participate in weekly staff meetings, staff check-ins, and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Professional Growth and Development: Develop a professional growth plan with your supervisor, engaging in ongoing learning and development to enhance your skills and expertise.
  • Client Support and Engagement: Engage with parents and clients as needed, providing support and guidance to ensure their needs are met.
  • Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage budgets for materials and resources, ensuring effective allocation and utilization of resources.
  • Onboarding and Integration: Support the onboarding process for new clients and staff, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into the program.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Engage in collaborative educational offerings with colleagues, implementing program-oriented approaches and teaching other program-specific content as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Experience working in education, preferably with a comparable client population to Meristem or similar experience.
  • Familiarity: Familiarity with transformative movement education, Ruskin Mill therapeutic craft education, or Waldorf education principles and approaches.
Physical Demands
  • The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to move in uneven terrain on our campus as needed.
  • The ability to sit at a desk, answer the phone, and use the computer for up to 8 hours a day.
