Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Language Development and Instruction, this role performs complex tasks to support the operation of a classroom or similar learning environments for immigrant students and their families. The successful candidate will provide various clerical, data entry, and supportive duties, as well as offer services to students in a language other than English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the instructional program for immigrant students.
  • Maintain accurate records of immigrant students.
  • Administer and score the Language Assessment Scales (LAS) in the students' primary language.
  • Act as a liaison between parents, school, and the Language Development and Instruction Department.
  • Collaborate with teachers to modify lesson plans.
  • Translate and support communication in Farsi as needed.
  • Interpret for parent meetings at school and District.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adults and children.
  • Perform a variety of complex tasks and understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Prepare reports as required and demonstrate good grammar.
  • Knowledge of correct language usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • California state law requires high school proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Education requirement of graduation from high school or equivalent, preferably supplemented by two years of college work in child care specialization or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Persian customs and culture.
