Site Operations Manager (Snow Management/Landscape Services) - Job Overview
East Coast Facilities, Inc. specializes in comprehensive facility maintenance for a diverse clientele including commercial, industrial, institutional, governmental, and corporate sectors. Our Site Operations Managers play a crucial role in assisting Crew Leaders and Team Leaders with all aspects of production, vehicle management, quality assurance, and safety protocols. This position reports directly to a Production Manager.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in verbal and written communication in English
  • Capable of operating company vehicles as required
  • Skilled in handling various equipment and machinery relevant to this role
  • Journeyman status in one or more of the following areas:
    • Professional landscape maintenance services
    • Professional landscape construction
    • Landscape restoration and repair
    • Licensed tree care and trimming services
    • Landscape irrigation maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections on job sites
  • Winter Operations Responsibilities
    • Snow removal using trucks or loaders
    • Manual snow removal with shovels or snow blowers
    • Application of de-icing agents on paved areas
    • Preparation and planning for snow events
    • Post-storm cleanup and equipment restocking
  • Mentor Crew Leaders on job sequencing and efficiency
  • Transport vehicles and equipment between service centers and job sites
  • Coordinate material delivery and organization for Crew Leaders as necessary
  • Assist Project Managers in operational tasks and project completion

Client Relations and Management

  • Represent East Coast Facilities, Inc. with professionalism at all times.
  • Respond effectively to client inquiries and ensure their needs are met satisfactorily.
  • Recognize when to escalate client issues to the Project Manager.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of all client communications and concerns on-site.
  • Maintain a positive, flexible, and responsive demeanor towards clients.
  • Conduct site inspections and inform the Project Manager of any potential risks.

Team Leadership

  • Ensure Crew Leaders adhere to budgeted man-hours and material usage on assigned tasks.
  • Assist in crew dispatching as needed.
  • Verify that all teams are adequately equipped and fueled for their tasks.
  • Assign duties to crew members (if applicable) and follow up on task completion.
  • Ensure punctuality and adherence to company policies among crew members.
  • Implement disciplinary measures when necessary, involving the Project Manager as required.

Training and Development

  • Ensure crew members are well-versed in safety protocols.
  • Certify crews in tasks assigned to the Crew Leader.
  • Train crew members (if applicable) for effective and efficient job performance.
  • Cross-train Crew Leaders for potential advancement into the Site Operations Manager role.
  • Communicate training objectives clearly in English and/or Spanish.

Performance Evaluation

  • Assess crew performance regularly.
  • Assist the Project Manager in conducting performance reviews for crew members and Crew Leaders.
  • Monitor progress towards goals based on evaluation metrics.

Safety Oversight

  • Promote and maintain safe working conditions at all times.
  • Adhere to company protocols regarding safety violations.
  • Aim for zero preventable accidents in the field.

Professional Image Maintenance

  • Ensure service vehicles and trailers are kept clean and professional.
  • Monitor crew members to ensure they maintain a professional appearance in compliance with company standards.

Equipment Oversight

  • Ensure all assigned tools, equipment, safety gear, vehicles, and trailers are properly maintained.
  • Accountable for any neglect or misuse of assigned equipment.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Proficient in reading and writing.
  • Organize and implement work schedules effectively.
  • Responsible for various documentation and procedures including:
    • Accident Reporting Forms
    • Equipment Inventory Forms
    • Equipment Repair Requests
    • Monthly Vehicle Safety Inspections
    • Quality Control Inspection Forms

General Requirements

  • Must hold journeyman status in one or more relevant job categories.
  • Able to operate a smartphone, manage emails, and take digital photographs.
  • Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Possess a clean driver's license.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Adhere to business ethics, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work in proximity to automotive traffic.
  • Work near natural bodies of water.
  • Utilize various types of work lifts.
  • Willingness to work overtime or extended shifts as required.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including high temperatures exceeding 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work outdoors in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in cold or snowy conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
