Position Overview

The University of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our esteemed Division of Periodontics. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional periodontal care and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer periodontal therapies including Scaling and Root Planing, and placement of subgingival antimicrobials.
  • Conduct periodontal maintenance and take radiographs with provider approval.
  • Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia as needed.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of periodontal, hard, and soft tissues.
  • Provide thorough oral hygiene instruction and maintain accurate chart documentation.
  • Manage the patient recall system effectively.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene.
  • Licensure: Current registration as a Dental Hygienist in Kentucky.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a dental hygiene role is preferred, especially with pediatric patients.

Skills and Attributes
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
  • Effective communication abilities and sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and a dependable work ethic.

Work Environment
Position requires standing for extended periods and working on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the day shift.
