Job Summary

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining university electrical systems in NAU campus structures to ensure they are operating effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect university electrical equipment, diagnose problems, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor and maintain records of university electrical needs and compile maintenance reports with information related to university electrical systems.
  • Perform breaker resets, breaker replacements, ballast/lamp replacement, receptacle replacements, motor control troubleshooting, and motor replacements.
  • Upgrade electrical systems by adding/replacing panels, adding conduits, boxes, wiring/devices, and upgrading/adding lighting fixtures to maintain required footcandle.
  • Repair street lights by relamping, replacing ballasts, wiring, conduits, Christy boxes, and LED upfitting (dark sky compliant).
  • Identify, demark, and coordinate with supervisor and requestors to ensure timeliness of demarking underground electrical infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Completion of a four-year federally approved technical training program in electrical repair and maintenance.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Driving Requirement

Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed.
