The Surgical Technician II is responsible for providing surgical assistance in a safe, appropriate, and effective manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse/MD, in compliance with the Surgical Technician II standards of practice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide surgical assistance in a safe and effective manner.
- Support the surgical team and supervisory staff.
- Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
- Participate in aspects of documentation and patient flow within the department.
- Assist new staff members or students in the scrub role.
- Maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other sensitive material.
- Provide excellent customer service skills and manage patient-family-significant other expectations.
- Integrate knowledge of job-specific competencies and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in scrubbing a minimum of 4 specialties.
- 2 years acute care surgical technician experience and CST surgical scrub technician certification required, OR 10 years acute care surgical technician experience required.
- Computer, internet, order entry, and word processing experience preferred.
- Proficient in medical terminology.
- Graduation from a surgical scrub technician program, armed services training program, or equivalent training required.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required.
