Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with the Controller and Accounting Manager in the daily recording of significant financial transactions.
- Work closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to ensure timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process.
- Provide backup support to Staff Accountants when they are out of the office.
- Reconcile and/or review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
- Work with the Controller and Accounting Manager to record purchases and sales for the investment portfolio.
- Manage fixed assets, including adding new assets, monthly depreciation, and yearly disposals.
- Manage prepaids, including adding and reconciling monthly.
- Prepare special reports for monthly Board of Directors meetings.
- Collaborate with the Controller and Accounting Manager to manage the external financial statement audit and all regulatory examinations.
- Assist in the preparation of the Quarterly Call Report, semi-annual Federal Reserve reports, quarterly FDIC, and other regulatory reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- 3-5 years' experience in an accounting department.
- 3-5 years' accounting experience in the banking industry preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of banking accounting principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a high-level of intellectual curiosity.
- Must possess good organizational skills.
- Must be highly proficient in MS Office with an emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with Jack Henry Silverlake general ledger software, Avid Exchange (Bank-Tel), and A3 reporting package a plus.
