Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Accounting Manager in the daily recording of significant financial transactions.
  • Work closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager to ensure timely and accurate completion of the month-end close process.
  • Provide backup support to Staff Accountants when they are out of the office.
  • Reconcile and/or review balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the Controller and Accounting Manager to record purchases and sales for the investment portfolio.
  • Manage fixed assets, including adding new assets, monthly depreciation, and yearly disposals.
  • Manage prepaids, including adding and reconciling monthly.
  • Prepare special reports for monthly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Controller and Accounting Manager to manage the external financial statement audit and all regulatory examinations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Quarterly Call Report, semi-annual Federal Reserve reports, quarterly FDIC, and other regulatory reporting.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 3-5 years' experience in an accounting department.
  • 3-5 years' accounting experience in the banking industry preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high-level of intellectual curiosity.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Must be highly proficient in MS Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience with Jack Henry Silverlake general ledger software, Avid Exchange (Bank-Tel), and A3 reporting package a plus.
